Discovering Tallin

We took a day trip to Tallin to experience what is like in a Medieval town that still feels and looks and alive to this time.

We boarded in the Tallin Silja Europa ferry line from Helsinki port to Tallin, Estonia at 7am.  Our schedule was 7:30am and we noticed that the ship start moving at 7:15am.  It’s good we did not go by our usual Filipino time routine.  This is our first time experiencing cruising on a frozen water especially those near the coast line.  It was fun seeing those ice crack as the boat pass it through.  Then they turned to just patches of ice sheets floating in the water.

It is about 2 hour cruise in the Baltic Sea.  We opted to upgrade our fare to include a breakfast buffet on board.  They offer good spread of European bread and pastries, as well as variety of eggs, bacon, sausages, smoked salmon and a lot more.  I was hoping to get a glimpse of the sunrise onboard but it was a cloudy day.  Sunrise The ship line also has a shopping mall, bar, casino and even a Burger King in the the food court.  We easily passed the 2 hour commute just by checking all the amenities they have on board.

Upon arrival in the pier, we walked about one long kilometer until the pier entrance.  We planned to just walk all over town the whole day without any GPS but just guided by the steeples and towers in the old town.   From pier, it is about 30 minute leisure walk to the old town.
